The church of the Lord Jesus Christ has been commissioned to seek and save that which was lost (2 Cor. 5:20). The world should be drawn to the light of the Gospel, the same as sinners were drawn to Jesus when He walked the earth. We are not to have fellowship with the world, nor be unequally yoked with unbelievers. We are to first care for the brethren, then those who are outside of the Body of Christ to bring them into the light. We are to take the light of the Gospel to the world in authority, demonstration and power. The early church met in houses and dwelling places and worshipped together in one accord. (Acts 1:12-14; 2:1; 5:12). When Paul persecuted the early church, Jesus took it personally because the church was one with Him. (Acts 9:1-5). The early church took the Gospel with them when they were scattered due to persecution. (Acts 11:19-21). It was necessary for the Word to be given first to the Jews because our Messiah was a Jew. (Acts 13:46-48).
