“Engaging Culture: Evangelism Part 1” by Pastor Frederick K. Price:
The church of the Lord Jesus Christ has a divine commission: to seek and save those who are lost (2 Corinthians 5:20). Just as sinners were drawn to Jesus during His earthly ministry, we are called to draw the world to the light of the Gospel. However, this engagement with culture comes with specific principles:
  1. Separation from the World: We are not to have fellowship with the world or be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Our primary focus should be caring for fellow believers within the Body of Christ.
  2. Taking the Gospel Light: Our mission is to take the light of the Gospel to the world. We do this with authority, demonstration, and power. Just as Jesus reached out to the hurting, rejected, and accused, we are called to do the same.
  3. Debating the Scriptures: Like Paul the Apostle, we engage with individuals in the marketplace and synagogues. We carefully encounter people, peacefully debating the scriptures, and persuading them to believe the truth of the Gospel (Acts 17:16-34).
  4. Understanding the Message: As believers, we must recognize that the message we preach is both for deliverance and an offense. It challenges the status quo and calls people to transformation.
Remember, our compassion—rooted in the way Jesus loved, gave Himself, and reached out—fuels our evangelistic efforts. Let’s join Jesus in His mission and be co-laborers in this revived era of evangelism!
